Understand what changed
The old ChatGPT app and the Codex app are now merged into one host app. Hover over the ChatGPT Work icon and click it to switch between ChatGPT Work and Codex.
Let it work with your local files
ChatGPT Work can reach the files already on your computer, so it can work with any PDF, Excel or other local file. Before this, you had to use Codex to get ChatGPT to act on things in your computer.
Use a chat for questions
Open the chats section. A chat works like regular ChatGPT: one conversation where you ask questions. Pick this when you want answers, not a finished piece of work.
Create a task when you need something built
Create a task whenever you need an action carried out: a report, an automation, a website, or research and planning. Tasks are the mode for getting work done rather than talking.
Turn an existing chat into a task
Click the import option in the tasks view and pick a conversation you already had with ChatGPT. It becomes a task, and you continue the same conversation in the new format.
Set up a project folder
Create a new project and put your files inside its folder. ChatGPT Work can then work on those files inside that project, the same way folders worked in the old app.
Install plugins
Open plugins, which work like an App Store for ChatGPT. Browse the applications listed and click Install on the ones you want. ChatGPT then has access to that app.
Schedule a task to run without you
Scheduled tasks let ChatGPT Work do things while you are away. Click the scheduled task button and create it with ChatGPT, as I recommend, so nothing gets missed while setting it up. Keep your computer online while it runs.
Fique atento a
Scheduled tasks run on your own computer: if it goes offline during the task, the task will not be done.
Build scheduled tasks with ChatGPT's help instead of by hand, so you do not miss anything in the setup.
Do not use a plain chat when you need a deliverable like a report or an automation: that is what tasks are for.
The standalone Codex application was discontinued, so expect to reach Codex through the switcher in ChatGPT Work instead.
