In this breakdown I walk you through what actually happened, why the Cursor acquisition changes the math, and why I think we are watching a category shift rather than a normal model release. The interesting part is the consolidation. SpaceXAI is joining together the resources of SpaceX, the team of xAI, and the teams from Cursor to create state-of-the-art models that cost literally one tenth compared to the rest of them. That combination of compute, talent, and product distribution is what makes this different from a normal lab shipping a new checkpoint.
