Editorial Workflow Automation for Modern Media Agency
Custom editorial workflow app that automates content checks and WordPress drafts, turning 10-minute reviews into instant verification.
- 10+ hours saved weekly
- 100+ articles in one weekend
- 200+ articles in the first month
Result at a glance
Genial built a web app, together with a media agency's CEO, that checks articles for grammar and AI-generated text, then sends them to WordPress as ready drafts. Checks that took 10 minutes are now instant, publishing went from 5 minutes to 1, the CEO saves 10+ hours weekly on review, and the agency checked and published 100+ articles in one weekend.
The client
The agency produces content for several clients, each with its own brand voice and quality standards. Articles are written by a team of junior writers, and the agency's reputation depends on consistent tone and on content being written by people.
The challenge
The CEO reviewed every article personally before publication: about 10 minutes per article to check grammar and tone and look for AI-generated text, then another 5 minutes to format it and upload it to WordPress with its images. That was more than 10 hours a week, and review was the bottleneck: the agency could only publish as many articles as the CEO had time to check, at most 20 to 25 in a weekend.
What we built
A custom web app, co-built with the agency's CEO, with three modes:
- Grammar correction fixes errors, typos and formatting while keeping the writer's wording and structure.
- AI verification runs the text through two detectors, ZeroGPT and GPTZero, and flags passages that look AI-generated.
- Hybrid corrects the text first, then runs AI detection on the changed passages to confirm the corrections did not introduce AI-generated text.
After verification, the app formats the article for WordPress, resizes and uploads its images with alt text, and creates a draft through the WordPress API. The CEO keeps the final publishing decision.
Weeks 1 and 2 covered the app, the detection integrations and the WordPress automation. Week 3 covered testing on 50+ past articles and a phased rollout. The app was in production after 3 weeks and used on live content from its first day.
Results
| Measure | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Article verification time | 10 minutes | Instant |
| WordPress publishing time | 5 minutes | 1 minute |
| CEO time on QA per week | 10+ hours | Less than 2 hours |
| Articles processed in one weekend | 20-25 (maximum) | 100+ |
In its first month the app processed 200+ articles, about 40 hours of manual verification. Review is no longer the bottleneck: the agency checks and publishes faster and in higher volume, and the CEO still makes the final publishing call.
This editorial system is one example of Genial's broader AI implementation and process automation service, where a defined workflow is connected, tested with real operating scenarios, and handed over with the team still in control of final decisions.
