ChatGPT vs Claude: Which AI Tool Should You Pick?
You will know which ChatGPT and Claude features I show, how to try each one yourself, and when to pick one tool over the other. The main idea: Claude wins for business because of what it connects to, not because it is smarter.
Was Sie brauchen
A ChatGPT account (openai.com)
A Claude account (claude.ai)
Optional: the ChatGPT desktop app
Optional: a Google Drive, Gmail or Trello account to connect
Schritt für Schritt
Start with ChatGPT's core features
Open ChatGPT and try the basics I call a Swiss knife for beginners: - Deep research for detailed reports (sales, lead generation, marketing trends, tutorials) - Thinking mode for more complex problems - Image creation, which is good enough for most marketing uses - Active voice mode to talk with it in real time
Connect apps and browse the GPT Store
Open Apps to connect ChatGPT to tools you use daily, such as Airtable, the Adobe Suite, Canva or Lovable. Then open Explore GPTs (the GPT Store) to find custom GPTs, or build one that answers customer questions about your business.
Keep the ChatGPT desktop app for quick questions
Install the ChatGPT desktop app and use its always-on window. Toggle it with a keyboard shortcut whenever you need a quick answer or a fast translation, without switching to another app. This is how I still use ChatGPT day to day.
Use Claude Chat for research and connected files
Open Claude Chat. Turn on Research (Claude's version of deep research) for dense reports. Connect your Google Drive, and add other apps through connectors. If you are new to AI, try the style selector to change how Claude replies, or create your own style.

Create a Project with your documents
Open the Projects tab and click New Project. Give it a name (I use "Test 123"), then add your files. Every new conversation inside that project uses the knowledge from those documents. This works the same way as Projects in ChatGPT.
Build and share an artifact
Ask Claude to build a small app, such as a writing assistant, a personal CRM, a cover letter generator or a quick bar game. Artifacts can have Claude built in, and you need no code. Publish the artifact to the web and share the link with your team or friends.
Set up connectors and save skills in Customize
Open Customize. Under connectors, link Gmail, Google Drive, Trello or a database. After Claude finishes a task you repeat, such as cleaning data, ask it to save that as a skill. To add one, click Create a New Skill, then Create with Claude or upload a skill a colleague sent you.
Ask Claude to save a workflowHey, I'm going to clean more data afterwards. Can you save this as a skill?
Browse plugins and make visuals with HTML
Open Plugins, an app store for skills, to find ones for customer support, data, brand voice or a single tool like Gmail. Claude has no native image generation, so give it a skill that creates visuals in HTML, then download the HTML and use it as an image.
Let Cowork and Claude Code work on your computer
Open Cowork, select a folder on your computer, and ask Claude to analyze the reports in it or create an Excel file or a report there. When you want more, move to Claude Code: describe the job in plain English and it can work for long stretches and help you connect the pieces.
Worauf Sie achten sollten
Do not pick a tool on intelligence alone: I think every major model is already very smart, and the real limit is how well it connects to your apps, files and computer.
Claude cannot generate images natively. Use an HTML visuals skill instead, and expect visuals, not photos.
ChatGPT's image creation works for most marketing needs, but I think Gemini's Nano Banana Pro is the best for images.
Codex is OpenAI's equivalent of Claude Code, but it is aimed mostly at developers, so business users get less guidance there.
