# Claude Code CRM prompt kit

From my video "Build a CRM with Claude Code (2026 Guide)".

## 1. Starting prompt

Open Claude, go into Claude Code, start a new session and paste:

```
Hey Claude, right now I want you to create a CRM for me. I want that CRM to handle all of my leads and also handle my sales cycle and my current customers. I also want to keep track of customer information inside of it. Could you ask me questions that could help me clarify all of the features that you need? Right now, we're going very basic. Give me at most 5 questions.
```

## 2. Prepare your answers

Claude will ask its own questions. These are the topics I answered in the video. Fill them in before you start.

- Format: what should it be? (I said: a web app)
  - My answer:
- Pipeline stages, in order (I said: lead, qualify, proposal sent, negotiation, won, lost)
  - My stages:
- Meetings: do you hold meetings before deciding if a lead is qualified? (I said: yes, qualification meetings)
  - My answer:
- Information to keep per company and per contact
  - My answer:
- Integrations right now? (I said: none, just a basic CRM)
  - My answer:
- Who uses it: only me, or a team?
  - My answer:

If a team uses it, tell Claude the CRM must record who updated it at every point in time.

### My answers, as an example

```
This should be a web app. My sales pipeline: lead, qualify, proposal sent, negotiation, won and lost. I normally do qualification meetings before defining if they're qualified. Per company and per contact, all of that information is fine. I do not want any integration right now. I literally just want to have a basic CRM, and this is only for myself.
```

Tip: a full web app can take a while to build. If you ask for a simple CRM that uses only your local files, Claude Code can do it within a couple of minutes.

## 3. Review checklist

- [ ] Pipeline breakdown by stage
- [ ] Recent closed deals
- [ ] Money in the pipeline and number of deals
- [ ] Deal overview by company and contact
- [ ] Add a contact and their company
- [ ] Move a deal through the pipeline
- [ ] Ask Claude Code to fix anything broken

## 4. Later: morning update

After connecting Claude Code (or Codex) to Gmail and your AI note taker:

```
Every morning, check my latest emails and my latest sales transcripts from my AI note taker, fetch all of that information, and update the CRM.
```
