# Competitor Intelligence Prompt Kit

These are the prompts from my webinar "AI for Competitive Intelligence" (Genial Agency). Replace anything in [brackets] with your own details.

## 1. Market deep research (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity)

Settings: turn on Research (deep research) mode and choose the biggest model available. A run takes around 5 to 10 minutes.

```
Hey, Claude, I need you to run a competitive analysis on the [your market, e.g. AI upskilling and AI implementation] market for [customer type, e.g. small and medium businesses] located in [country]. More precisely, if you can actually study the [region] region, it would be amazing. I need the latest news on [type of competitor, e.g. consulting firms] or other firms that are within that market.
```

For a more accurate result, add your website or a list of your services so it can study trends tied to what you sell.

If Claude asks follow-up questions, I picked these:
- Competitor type: all of the above
- Output: key players, plus pricing and business models
- Format: detailed report

Don't know your competitors yet? Run this first to get a list of names, then run section 2 for each one.

## 2. Single competitor deep research

Paste the competitor's website or LinkedIn company page, then:

```
Can you please run a research analysis on this company, namely the people who are working there? Find new people who were hired, if you can find that information. Then any product launches or other relevant information that might help me widen my field of services.
```

You can tell it to leave out a source if you think it will add noise.

Tip: set sections 1 and 2 as scheduled tasks (daily, weekly or monthly) so you get a regular report on how the market and each competitor are changing.

## 3. LinkedIn tracking with Claude Code and Apify

You need an Apify account connected to Claude Code first.

Step 1, personal profile:
```
Hey, Claude. So I would like to fetch the last 10 posts from this profile: [LinkedIn profile URL]. Do you have anything that would allow me to do that? Check your tools and the tool files.
```

Step 2, company page:
```
Now I also need you to get the information from the posts from [his/her] company using the right Apify scraper: [LinkedIn company URL]
```

Step 3, make it run on its own:
```
Everything that we did right now, I want you to do it every 24 hours. Go and put it in [service].
```

How often to run it: every 24 hours in a fast-moving market, every 7 days in a slow one.

What to look for in the scraped posts and engagement: new clients, new hires, new offers or product launches.

## 4. Keyword monitoring (market trends and prospects)

When people are spread across platforms, track a topic instead of a person. My version:
- Every morning, pull the LinkedIn posts from the last 24 hours that contain a keyword (mine was "Claude").
- Sort each post: power user, someone migrating (for me, from ChatGPT to Claude), or noise.
- Show the results on a dashboard (an HTML page you can deploy online).

The same data works for competitor tracking and for prospecting. Only the way you use it changes.

---

## 5. Checking your sources

- Every deep research report lists its sources. Check them yourself, or have a second AI go through them.
- List the sources you prefer, or block the ones you don't trust.
- In Perplexity, use connectors and sources to pick academic, social or web. On Pro you can narrow down to specific websites.

---

## 6. Privacy levels

1. Settings: turn off data sharing in your AI tool. In Claude: Settings > Privacy > turn off "Help Improve Claude".
2. Contract: contact the provider's sales team about a zero data retention agreement.
3. Local model: keep Claude Code as the "body" and swap in a local "brain" (for example through Ollama). It is less powerful and needs a stronger computer, but your data stays on your machine.
