Automate Your Work with Claude (Scheduled Tasks)
You will set up a daily briefing in Claude Cowork that runs on a schedule, delivered as a file in your folder, and know how to edit, test and delete it.
Was Sie brauchen
Claude with Cowork (claude.ai)
Your tools connected to Cowork: email, calendar, note taker (Slack, Notion, Google Calendar, Gmail or Google Drive)
A computer that stays on at the scheduled time
Schritt für Schritt
Connect your tools first
Before you create anything, connect Claude Cowork to every tool the task will use: your email, your calendar, your note taker. Cowork can only brief you on what it can access.
Start a new scheduled task with Claude
Open Scheduled Tasks and click the button to add a new one. You get two options: create with Claude or set it up manually. Choose Claude: it opens a new chat and walks you through the setup interactively, so you see how the automation will work.
Describe a simple automation
Answer Cowork's questions about what you want. Start simple, for example a daily briefing or a check of your emails. Cowork checks your existing connections (Slack, Notion, Calendar and others) before suggesting options.
What I asked forI just want a briefing. I want it daily, as a file in my folder. Just check calendar and meetings, early in the morning.
Choose delivery, sources and time
Pick how the result reaches you: a Slack message or a file in your folder. Then answer the follow-up questions (which sources, what time). The more detail you give, the better the result.
Keep your computer awake
Turn on the option that keeps your computer on while the task runs. If your computer sleeps, the task will not run. Set for 7 AM, it runs at 7 AM as long as the computer is on.
Review the plan and schedule it
Read the summary (for example: every morning at 7 AM, pull today's calendar events) and the full prompt, including where the file gets saved. When it looks right, click Scheduled.
Check the task card
Go back to Scheduled. Open the new task and confirm three things: the instructions (identical to the prompt), the run time, and that it has access to the connections it needs (email, Google Meet, etc.).
Modify, run now or delete
From the task card, modify the task when your needs change, click Run now to test it immediately, or click Delete to remove a run or the whole task once you no longer need it.
Worauf Sie achten sollten
If your computer is asleep or turned off at the scheduled time, the task does not run.
Connect your tools before you start, or Cowork will not have access to what it needs.
Setting up manually skips Cowork's interactive feedback, so you get less sense of how the automation will behave.
Run now shows the task working live, so stop it if private information could appear on screen (for example while recording or sharing).
